A Critical View: Competition for the European Central Bank Headquarters in Frankfurt am Main

The result of the competition for the construction of a new European Central Bank in Frankfurt am Main was announced on 14 February 2004. The winners were Coop Himmelb(l)au from Vienna, and there is a good chance that their scheme will be built. This is the outcome of a two-stage competition, first launched in 1999, in which 71 offices from Europe, the US and Japan participated.
