A pick of summer art and architecture exhibitions.

Not a subject often spoken about by the Olympic Organising Committee, but his summer will see a larger than usual migration out of the British capital by inhabitants wanting to get away from the games whilst their roads, restaurants, public transport system and even their billboards are hijacked by the Olympic sporting circus when it comes to town. This post suggests four of interesting summer exhibitions you might come across in other cities around the world. Paris. “La Tendenza” Italian Architectures 1965 – 1985. 50 drawings, models, photographs, paintings and film as well as rich documentation tracing the birth and progress of the movement. Centre Pompidou, Paris. 20 June – 10 September 2012 Vienna. Klimt: The Wien Museum Collection. Incorporating work form all the periods of his carear from student commissions, right up to one year from his death. It is the largest and most comprehensive collection of Klimt works. The Wien Museum, Vienna.16 May - 16 September 2012. Chicago. Roy Lichtenstein: A retrospective. Lichtenstein's fascinations were with art history and popular culture. This exhibition explores how he transformed his sources from drawings to paintings. Art Institute of Chicago to 3 September 2012. New York. Alighiero Boetti: Game Plan. A retrospective of the artist featuring works from his entire career. The exhibition builds a compelling argument for his influence on other artists of his generation.
