A sunny disposition: Rio 2016 Olympics masterplan by Aecom.

Just as the London 2012 Olympics party is about to commence, the British weather, predictably, seems not to be in party spirit with endless rain throughout the summer, and more forecast. It therefore seems like a good opportunity to look forward to what the games might be like in Rio in 2016.
The winning masterplan was entered by Aecom in a team effort with Rio-based DG Architecture, as well as Wilkinson Eyre Architects, Pujol Barcelona Architects, Expedition and IMG Sports and Entertainment. The Rio Olympic Park at Barra da Tijuca will create an a new quarter of the city.
The three images produced show the park in 2016 games mode, 2018 transition mode and 2030 legacy mode. I offer one superficial observation for the legacy mode, there seems to be a greater emphasis on housing than with London 2012.
