Sealing and Control

The ESO Supernova is located on the campus of the European Southern Observatory ESO in Garching near Munich. The visitor centre houses a digital planetarium and an astronomical exhibition. Based on the idea of the founder Klaus Tschira, the building was planned by architects Bernhardt + Partner as a representation of a supernova. The structure represents the two stars dancing around each other, just before the heavier of the two explodes. The concrete roof was first fitted with a vapour barrier and the thermal insulation. This was followed by the electro-conductive glass fleece of the Sika Roof Control System and the installation of the RCS contact plates and control tube. The roof was then sealed with Sarnafil TS 77-20 plastic sheeting.
