Alex de Rijke

2018 Alex de Rijke of dRMM, together with founding partners Philip Marsh and Sadie Morgan, won the renowned Stirling Prize for their redevelopment of Hastings Pier. Established in 1995, dRMM aims to create innovative, high quality and socially useful architecture. Alex de Rijke is responsible for the firm’s timber projects, overseeing their concept, construction and delivery. In addition, he conducts ongoing research into new building materials, technologies and construction methods. Under his leadership dRMM has become recognised as pioneers in the field of engineered timber architecture and construction in the UK. Their expertise is exemplified by projects such as Rundeskogen in Norway, Sliding House, Endless Stair, Tower of Love in Blackpool and Kingsdale School Hall. Alex de Rijke teaches at various architectural schools around the world and represents his profession on television, radio and as an author in various publications.
