The facility – sited near the city centre – will be built according to a design by the Parisian office ALN Atelien Architecture, which won the respective competition held by the city of Chambéry. The municipal facility will be the first of the three projects in the Pools Plan that the Chambéry council passed in 2005 to increase the number of local opportunities for sports and leisure activities and make the city more attractive.
The swimming pool will have a 4,800-square-metre building housing 900-square-metre indoor pool and a large wellness area, while outdoors it will offer a 6,750-square-metre summer lido featuring another 900-square-metre pool and room for slides and water games. Enough room, in other words, to accommodate 232,000 visitors a year. The large modular roof of the indoor section pays homage to the industrial nature of the site's surroundings.
