Aluminium Ceiling by Durlum for a Museum

The memorial also includes a museum below the archway. This has now been extended by an entrance designed by James Carpenter Design Associates and Cooper Robertson. A ceiling solution from durlum, designed as a special system, was used here.
The foyer accessible from the adjacent park leads visitors into the underground area. This flow of movement is optically enhanced by the ceiling design. Slightly curved and narrowing towards the rear, the oblong panels of highly reflective aluminium backed with fleece form the suspended ceiling, while special suspended aluminium pipes with a diameter of approximately 76 mm form the outer ceiling layer. The extruded pipes are powder-coated in signal white and run transversely to the walking direction. The light inside the tubes is reflected by the ceiling and the entire area is immersed in diffuse light.
