An Experiment with Rugs: the Lattice Collection by the Brothers Bouroullec

For the Lattice rug collection, French designer brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec have again cooperated with the Spanish label nanimarquina. With their rhythmically repeating pattern, the collection features a harmonious sequence of colours. Balance, proportion and irregularity are the key elements of the controlled disorder that makes Lattice so remarkable.
Erwan and Ronan Bouroullec have this to say about their new design: “A rug is usually designed as a surface with a pattern. But Lattice defines the pattern as a constructive system brought forth by the shape of the rug. The coloured bands are directly connected by the pattern, shapes and colours. This creates different frames.”
With Lattice, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec continue what they began in 2011 with their Losanges rug and experimentation with old kelim techniques. The collection is made by hand in Pakistan using hand-spun Afghan wool. Two colour variants are available: one in navy, indigo, moss-green and terracotta, the other in beige, turquoise and anthracite. Customers may choose from four different sizes.
