An Identity-Shaping Colour Scheme: Company Headquarters in Montréal

The challenge consisted in creating a work environment that conveyed creativity as well as productivity. This has resulted in a diverse world caught between a spaceship and a living room: hard, white surfaces contrast with colourful carpets of sheep’s wool.

The existing space occupies one level of a 1980s office tower. Measuring 1,671 m², its spatial distribution required only minimal adaptations to the new plan. Bright, open-plan offices are arranged in a horseshoe around an inner access corridor whose futuristic look gleams in the smooth, glossy white of the walls and the highly reflective flooring of polished epoxy resin.

Dedicated spaces to either side form a buffer zone set between the open area and the corridor; meeting rooms and working areas for smaller teams open onto the open-plan office. The foyer, games room and fully-glazed, informal conversation niches in monochromatic colour concepts face the hallway.

The company’s logo, which features graphically overlapping blocks of colour, served as inspiration for the textile pattern of the geometrically irregular areas of wool carpeting that dominate the bright, open offices and dining areas along the glass shell of the building.
