Antibacterial Porcelain Stoneware

Foto: Marazzi

Silver has an antibacterial effect, and Italian company Marazzi has developed its Puro tile finish based on this knowledge. It is said to reduce bacteria and germs on the tile surface by 99.9 % with the help of silver ions incorporated into the tile compound. According to Marazzi, it works on a permanent basis, and, unlike other catalyst materials, including without UV light.

The Alba series of porcelain stoneware tiles (shown on the photo) is equipped with the antimicrobial technology and is also made of 40 % recycled material. For floors and walls, there are three marble stone-inspired colour options to choose from. Also on offer are wood-look floor tiles. The wall tiles are available in 30 × 90 cm format and as mosaics. For the floor there is a larger selection of formats from 30 × 60 to 60 × 120 cm plus the long format 20 × 120 cm for the wood-look tiles.
