Architects´Office in Rastede

Compact and cool in appearance, this cubic structure is in aerated concrete, finished externally with rendering and meranti panels. The internal space is brightly lit through the room-height glazing in the south face. A jump in the ceiling height from 2.80 to 3.40 m articulates the continuous 38 m2 office space into two realms: a discussion zone and a working area for three people. The latter also receives daylight via a strip of glazing in the roof upstand. The kitchen and WC are housed in the recesses on each side of the entrance. A patio at the southern end creates an outdoor extension of the internal space. Despite the sober, functional design, the building contains many surprising and playful details.
