Architekturwerkstatt Vallentin

Ecology and sustainability have always played a central role in Gernot Vallentin’s architectural practice. In 1998, the architects designed their first passive house; the world’s first school certified in passive house standards followed in 2002, and in 2010 they designed the first passive house in South Korea. In 2013, Gernot Vallentin was awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit for his commitment to sustainable architecture. Energy efficiency is not the architects’ only priority: “Technical requirements and approaches shouldn’t dominate or replace issues of urban planning, building design and proportions. But having a precise understanding of key technical issues gives us a certain amount of design freedom, which we use to develop spatial concepts.” The studio recently did just this for the Team3 building venture in Prinz Eugen Park, Munich.
