Today, buildings and their outer skins are more varied than ever before, exhibiting an often disparate juxtaposition of forms, materials and colours. This article presents and analyses various design trends with the help of examples the Laban Centre by Herzog and de Meuron and the Boehringer research centre by Sauerbruch and Hutton in Biberach.
