Occupying a site next to an unstaffed station, thislinear structure was conceived as a place of communication that would link the community at present divided by the railway line. The 17corrugated steel elements of different cross-sections form a series of flowing spaces. At night, spots let in the ground produce fascinating lighting effects on the curved metal surfaces. Wall and roof are united in the individual elements, which are fixed to steel sections anchored in concrete foundations. Additional bracing is provided by steel tubes inthe longitudinal direction, especially along the free edges. In view of the heavy snow loads to be expected, steel thicknesses of between 2.7and 7 mm were necessary.
