Boutique in Barcelona

Situated in a dark alleyway, this small shop is distinguished by its singular, colourful interior fittings, which may be glimpsed through the perforated entrance screen. Clothes rails wind through the tight internal space, while red metal cylinders in the floor create a link with the basement, acting as light and air wells, oras display points and showcases. Each of the curved metal elements has an ornamental surround in the floor, formed when the openings were bored. The ground floor, with its bright, colourful atmosphere, is contrasted with the cave-like, “funky” basement, where the walls were left in an uneven state and painted gold. The lower space is lighted – largely artificially – solely through the cylinders.
