Bravo 24, Barcelona. Dining rooms by Isabel Lopez Vilalta + Asociados

Chill out area

There has been an unmistakable lull in interesting hotel design recently. So with the holiday season upon us, today seems like an appropriate moment to look at a couple of recent triumphs that might inspire an impromptu vacation. The first project to feature is the restaurant Bravo 24 who's dining room interiors were completed for the W Hotels / Starwood Hotels group by Isabel Lopez Vilalta + Asociados in 2010. The space where the restaurant was to be built had an inconveniently located stairs and services core that could not be moved. It presented an intrusive box that the designers had to work with. They did this by multiplying the form to create a series of individual dining room boxes that gives a sophisticated, semi-private feel to the spaces. The dining room enclosures are transparent in the sense that the timber screens allow views through the spaces. After all, watching other diners is part of the pleasure of eating out! Each dining room has its own variation to the lighting scheme providing an individual character to each space, and a more intimate dining experience than might be expected from an open plan interior. Unifying the entire composition is the use of warm , blonde wood. dining room Bar area Bar area form opposite side in the corridor down the corridor
