Bridge Memorial in Rijeka

Technically speaking, the project is nothing out of the ordinary: a canal separates the old city of Rijeka from its former harbour which is to be redeveloped into a new city park. A new bridge is to connect the two parts of the city. What is unusual, however, is that the bridge is also to function as a memorial to the victims of the Balkan war. The steel construction is 47 metres long with a span of 35.7 metres and a width of 5.4 metres.
