Britain from Above: Historical images of Britain.
Aerofilms was the agency that took aerial photographs of Britain before Google. It operated from 1919 to 2006 and over that period built-up an amazing archive. Recently the archive was purchased by English Heritage and and been digitized and put online.
You can see the archive at: Britain from Above.
There are 1.26M images in the collection that were made up of Aerofilms Limited's own images as well as the collections of two smaller firms AeroPictorial (1934-1960) and Airviews 1947- 1991). Not all the archive is yet available. There are some images that have changed so much that nobody can not recognize them. English heritage are now seeking help from anybody that might have some information that will help them identify the mysterious sites.
