Buildings as resource stores: Recycling-friendly construction in practice
Completed in December 2011 in Berlin, the pilot project, ‘Efficiency House Plus with Electric Mobility’ (referred to as ‘F87’, short for its location at Fasanenstrasse 87a) is a significant step towards resource efficiency in the building industry. From the very beginning the ‘end-of-life’ life cycle phase was an integral part of the planning. In the selection of building materials and in the planning of their application, it was carefully considered how the individual elements could be carefully separated and returned to the material cycle during deconstruction.
