Built up: Accumulated paint by Masako Kamiya.
Masako Kamiyais a Japanese artist based in Boston, USA. She creates colourful paintings by building up dots of colour layer by layer into little columns of paint. The process gives her work an interesting three dimensional texture.
The artist works mainly with gouache applying the paint dots to wood panels. She speaks of this process as mark making and likens it to a “conversation”.
An exhibition of the work will be held at the Tobin Ohashi Gallery in Tokyo. Click here for further details.
