Collage city: Datong Museum by Foster + Partners.

Here is another one of those incredible Chinese projects whose scale and audacity leave most people agog. Foster + Partners advise that their Datong Museum project is now under construction!
The building is conceived as an erupted landscape with most of the museum underground, and just the tips of the eruption, the building roof, above ground. This roof is basically the component that is seen from the exterior. Its form appears to be four interconnected pyramids with a clerestory between each volume creating internal light and a beacon effect at night.
I find it difficult to properly fix the scale of this project but that, its colour and texture, and its jumble of sweeping roofs recalls the landscape of the Forbidden City, or perhaps a collage of it!
