»Concept« Office Buildings

Apart from our own apartment, only very few rooms have such a large influence on us as the space we work in. Those who practice their occupation in an office spend many hours a day at their workplace and the design of office buildings moulds the office atmosphere. In addition, the image of a company is, to a certain extent, influenced by its buildings. Nine selected examples show the spectrum of possibilities for building types, organisational form and contextual integration. The example of the AachenMünchener Insurance’s corporate headquarters in Aachen, Germany, from kadawittfeldarchitekten, shows the process from drafting to realisation in detail, with those involved in the project sharing their insights. Complementary articles describe possible office organisation forms in a systematic way, and discuss the current situation and perspectives for the planning of office buildings as well as their contextual relationship.
