DB House, Sébastien sur Loire, France by Avignon -Clouet architects.

This is a very simple house with three distinct aspects. From behind it is austere, a plain panelled elevation gives the impression of an industrial shed. From the front, a glazed façade makes a more direct connection with nature and the site. Internally the courtyard is a swimming pool giving the impression of a private palace! Avignon -Clouet architects have conceived this house of 231 square metres with what might be considered the apparent contradictions of austerity and luxury, site-embracing, and site-blind. The pool is interesting. Its edge laps up to the living accommodation separated by movable glazing to some of the courtyard elevations. By night, when illuminated, it acts as a lantern and a focus for the entire house. It also serves to modify the micro climate.
