DETAIL Prize 2012: 1 Bligh Sydney

Nominated for DETAIL Prize 2012: 1 Bligh Sydney, Sydney, Australia
ingenhoven architects
The 139 metre-high office tower ,1 Bligh Sydney, designed by ingenhoven architects has become a significant component of Sydney's skyline since it was completed in 2011. Due to its compact geometry and rotation of the building on the site, all office areas profit from an unobstructable view of the harbour. For this purpose, the ground floor zone was raised to make way for a public plaza. In addition to the highly efficient use of space, the overall ecological concept of the high-rise building is what convinced the client, DEXUS Property Group, according to the architects. The design is unique in Sydney and in the whole Australian continent. The building is the first high-rise structure to be awarded the "6 Star World Leadership” certificate of the Australian "green star" eco-standard. The completely glazed building has a two-layer facade and is ventilated by means of a room-high atrium.
