Distribution Centre in Coesfeld

The spatial and logistic conclusion of the distribution centre is formed by the three doors of the warehouse. When closed they are fully recessed into the sloping roof. They can be opened upward by lever arms, independently from one another. Thus a canopy protecting an area of more than a thousand square metres is created, under which twelve heavy goods vehicles find ample space to be loaded, prior to delivery to the retail outlets, irrelevant of weather. The three roof elements are constructed from welded steel box-sections; the sub-structure of steel or aluminium hollow sections and trapezoidal sheet metal is clad with a thin aluminium skin. The sprinkler system and lighting are recessed into and flush with the underside of the construction.
