ECOWEEK in Thessaloniki – Placemaking in one planet

Architects from Greece, Germany, UK and Italy will participate in the International Conference on Monday, 14 November. The sustainable design workshops will bring together students from Greece and abroad on 15 – 18 November. The results of the workshops will be presented to the public on Saturday, November 19th. Parallel actions and events - such as lectures, panels and exhibitions – will be held during the whole week in cooperation with Hotelia - Philoxenia.
ECOWEEK in Thessaloniki is coordinated by Despina Kouinoglou, Agronomist and Cand. of Landscape Architecture Postgraduate Program, and organised by the ECOWEEK team: Eleni-Vasiliki Alexi, Lina-Louna Kapeta, Despoina Kouinoglou, Apostolia Michalou, Dimitris Nanos, Natali Nanou, Antonis Semertsidis, Eythumia Stamatopoulou, Nikos Orfanidis.
The Greek International non-profit organisation ECOWEEK, is being founded in order to promote and raise awareness on environmental issues and promote the principles of sustainability. It was founded and coordinated in 2005 by Dr. Elias Messinas (Archit.), social entrepreneur and environmental consultant, is active in 15 countries today, and has an international network of members in 54 countries. ECOWEEK organises international conferences and design workshops in cities around the world, bringing together professionals and students of Architecture, Design, Landscape Architecture, and Environmental Engineering.
The event will take place under the auspices of AUTH and especially the Faculty of Architecture, the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Architects' Club of Thessaloniki and in cooperation with TIF - HELEXPO, the International Exhibition Hotelia - Philoxenia & AKTO Art & Design College & the support and participation of entities of Thessaloniki.
