Edgy: Urban Garden by OFL Architecture

The multisensory garden, called Zighizaghi, is the result of a cooperative project between Miliashop and Farm Cultural Park; it was designed by OFL Architecture. It arose from the need to create an inviting place for the citizens of Favara. At the same time, it was a good opportunity to develop an innovative public area using wood and plants. Milia’s desire to underscore their connection with the field of biology was the foundation for the project, which is characterized by a shape typically associated with bees: the hexagon. The project extends over two levels: on the ground and in the air, with a suitable lighting system. The six-sided floor panels are made of plywood bound with okoume wood. Thanks to their modularity, they can be used to create a variety of configurations. Then there are the six fourteen-sided prisms, known as Super Pods, which not only shed light, they also work as loudspeakers. They are a tribute to Pff, the inflatable pavilion developed by Citivision and Farm Cultural Park. Zighizaghi’s interactive character means that it can transform the area in front of a building into a dynamic environment where music functions as a vehicle between visitors and nature. In any case, this is an interesting new approach to give new life to bleak urban areas.
