Architects: Atelier Jörg Rügemer
The German Passive House Standard is now also gaining ground in the United States. An example is “Haus 125” in Park City, Utah, designed and built by German architect Jörg Rügemer for himself and his family. Located at an altitude of 2,100 m in the Western Rocky Mountains, the 220 m2 home was designed to withstand winter temperatures as low as –25 °C and summer maxima of up to 35 °C. The wall system, which Rügemer developed, consists of a standard balloon-frame wall with blown-in mineral fibre insulation, and an additional rendered external wall insulation system.
