FABRICATE 2017: Call for Work extended

The submission deadline for FABRICATE 2017 at University of Stuttgart has been extended. Projects can now be submitted until 30 July, 2016. The Call for Work is open for submissions of built or partially built projects by individuals or collaborators in academia, practice and industry. From computational design, to material performance and manipulation, to robotic fabrication, FABRICATE will promote the full spectrum of research and creative practice currently occurring within architecture, construction, engineering, manufacturing, materials technology and computation. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts. Those selected will be notified by 20 August, 2016 and asked to hand in their full submission by 20 September, 2016. All projects should be submitted using the online submittal website EasyChair. All submissions should be blind with no mention of authors, institutions or collaborations.

FABRICATE is an international peer reviewed conference with supporting publication
on the theme of Digital Fabrication. The conference brings together pioneers in design and making within architecture, construction, engineering, manufacturing, materials technology and computation to discuss the progressive integration of digital design with manufacturing processes, and its impact on design and making in the 21st century.

Confirmed keynote speakers are Kengo Kuma, architect and Professor of Architecture at University of Tokyo, as well as Antoine Picon, Professor of History in Architecture and Technology and Director of Research at the Harvard GSD. Jan Knippers, civil engineer and head of the Institute for Building Structures and Structural Design at University of Stuttgart, Jenny Sabin, architect, Assistant Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at Cornell University and Philip Yuan, architect and Professor in the College of Architecture and Planning at Tongji University have confirmed their participation as session chairs. Further keynotes and chairs will be announced shortly.
