SuperLimão Studio and Studio Campana covered the façade of Firma Casa in Sao Paolo, Brazil, with 3500 vases filled with 9000 seedlings.The Brazilian designers Fernando and Humberto Campana and the architects of SuperLimão Studio collaborated on the interior design and the design of a façade of a commercial building in Sao Paulo, Brazil - their decision: Cover with thousands of plant-filled vases.
The building that SuperLimão Studio + Studio Campana were commissioned to redesign is two floor high and has a floor area of 500 m2 housing a gallery and a retail store in the ground floor and offices in the second floor.
For the interior, the architects and designers decided to show the steel structure, air conditioning ducts, and the grid of electric rails at the ceiling. That allows flexible use of the gallery space by hanging for example objects with magnets from the steel beams or by placing objects of various dimensions on pallets shelving.
In order to bring large objects inside the gallery, the front door is made out of three parts so it can be fully opened and the floor is made out of concrete to be able to support heavy weight objects and sculptures.
The façade was transformed into a green wall, covered with vases filled with Espada-de-São-Jorge, a plant of African origin. This plant is common in Brazilian culture because of the popular superstitious belief in its protective power. The vases are made out of aluminum that was bent to an origami form to support the plants.
