The architecture office Daisuke Motogi designed in collaboration with Sixinch Japan the Flip Series – a variety of chairs that can be flipped as suited. The Tokyo based architect Daisuke Motogi produced the chair collection Flip series for Sixinch Japan, that was on display at Tokyo’s design week, the Designtide Tokyo 2011, at the beginning of November. Each model in the furniture collection is a seating object that can be flipped to transform the piece to a new form that fulfills a different function.

One piece of the Flip Series can be used for example as a high-backed chair when turned one way, and as a low seat when flipped in another direction.

Other pieces of the Flip Series is a stool that is transformed into a deep seat or a chair that can work as both a lounger and a rocking chair depending on the way it its turned around.

All pieces of the Flip Series collection are made out of Urethane to ensure that the furniture objects will be light enough to be easily flipped.

The Flip series were shown under the theme of this year’s Designtide “Trading Design, Trading Ideas” at one of the design week’s exhibitions that were featuring a wide variety of projects by young Japanese designers presenting new thoughts and forms in creating sustainable design.
