Form 1 3D printer by formlabs.

At last we are getting close to the 3d printer that every architect wants! Formlams, a company set-up by a group of graduates from MIT have produced Form 1, a prototype for a high resolution personal 3D printer that uses stereolithography. It is expected to be inexpensive, and if produced will revolutionise the 3D printer market. The company managed to raise its target seed money of $100,000 on Kickstarter, a crowd sourcing capital venture site, in just 2.5 hours. Stereolithography gives the best resolution and accuracy and works by using a laser to draw on the surface of liquid plastic resin. When exposed to light of a certain wavelength the plastic hardens. The printer then draws the next layer. The process is simple, reliable and quiet, but until now it has been expensive. An important point is that this machine also looks designed! The profession waits with baited breath! The printer on a desk. Objects its printed.
