Growth potential

Architects: Sheppard Robson Architects Lancaster University is undertaking efforts to reduce its carbon footprint by 35% between 2005 and 2012. As early as 2005, the university set out a strategy to ensure that all new-builds on the campus met, at least, a BREEAM Excellent rating.
A number of new buildings have already been completed according to this standard, but the central showpiece of sustainable architecture is surely the £6 million Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA), designed by Sheppard Robson.
