Bright rooms with a glass folding wall

bnla architecten have designed a light-flooded townhouse on a narrow plot in Ijburg in the eastern part of Amsterdam. A white concrete conversion optically separates the new building from the neighboring houses. At the same time, it accentuates the facade made of wood and glass. Divided levels, an open living room and ceilings over 5 m high make the house look bright and spacious. The living room on the first level is delimited by a movable glass facade from Solarlux, which can be opened over the entire room width of 7 m. It connects the living room with the balcony facing south and the water.

The six-part folding glass wall with skylights allows plenty of daylight into the narrow building. In contrast to the open and spacious living space, the bedrooms and bathrooms were arranged as places of retreat on the upper levels. The material wood dominates there, with which both the walls and ceilings were clad.
