Hotel Leman Locke in London

The New York-based architect duo Grzywinski + Pons implanted altogether 180 apartments into an independently developed, 24 stories tall skyscraper. The furnishing of the apartments is intended to make visitors feel at home for either a day or a whole year. Nearly all pieces of furniture in the interiors were designed by the architects. The painstakingly detailed beds, lamps and tables, built according to manually drafted plans, are as functional as they are durable. They are also supposed to convey a sense of home. Moveable furniture was intentionally omitted.

A sophisticated colour and material selection defines the character of the double-height lobby area, where pastel hues create a friendly atmosphere. The partition walls are made of terracotta, and their surfaces possess a three-dimensional structure. Filigree luminaires produce geometric patterns above the two en­trance areas, including the reception desk and bar. A spiral staircase made of steel leads into the restaurant above.
