Housing Block in Allensbach

Situated on the edge of a development area, the block is divided into two separate units by an external staircase across its width. The three storeys of the houses are linked by internal staircases. The living rooms and bedrooms are located in the timber tract, which has a skeleton-frame structure, consisting of load-bearing columns and drop-in floor beams. The bathrooms and kitchens are housed in the concrete lean-to structures. On the side overlooking Lake Constance, the houses open out with balconies and large areas of glazing. A slender steel construction frames the smaller-scale volumes on this face and supports the larch-strip roofing layer and the balconies.
