Housing Development in Kvistgård
“Who cares what it costs, as long as it looks cheap?” That was the ironic motto of the Danish architects Vandkunsten in the late 1960s. It reflects the office philosophy that architecture cannot be rough, simple yet sensuous enough. Vandkunsten Architects have remained true to their principles, however, for social aspirations and the idea of community were always the most important aspects. Built to an extremely tight budget, a complex urban structure has been created in Kvistgård that fulfils all conditions of concerted living.
