In good taste: Baguette table by Studio Rygalik.

Photos: Nick Albert / Kollektiv Fischka.

A Polish design studio have put a spotlight on food waste by creating this table from stale baguettes. Studio rygalik used the amount of food wasted in Vienna as a case study, and found that the waste, could in theory, feed half the population of Gratz! Baguette table makes the point in a particularly sculptural way. The table is made by tying together sawn-off baguettes at varying lengths to create a single flat table top. The longer sticks of course create the legs. The piece will be exhibited at 'the food project, the shape of taste' curated by beppe finessi at the MaRT/ museo di arte moderna e contemporanea di trento e rovereto. The exhibition gives form to experimental design applied to food. February 9th to June 2nd, 2013. By way of Designboom.
