Information Centre in Fetsund, Norway

Situated in the largest inland river delta in northern Europe, the centre reflects the dominant elements of the region: the weather, waterpower and the changing form of the delta. The stout timber structural members, for example, echo the piles in the water. In contrast, the façade indicates the temporary nature of the building and is articulated into a series of interchangeable infill units. Demountable internal elements, which are independent of the primary structure, permit a flexible use of the exhibition areas. The roof slopes down to a valley in the middle, thereby opening up the building to the landscape. The roof covering consists of prefabricated panels, with corrugated metal sheeting at the edges.
