KWK Promes
Robert Konieczny studied architecture at Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice and architecture and urban planning at New Jersey Institute of Technology. In 1999, he founded KWK Promes in Katowice. The studio sees itself as a concept-driven practice. "Thanks to the professors in Gliwice who had studied at the Berlage Institute in the Netherlands, there was a strong trend towards conceptualism during my studies," Robert Konieczny explains his approach. “The method involves identifying an overarching concept that sets the rest of the design process in motion.” KWK Promes has had 14 projects nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award in recent years, including the Plato contemporary art gallery in Ostrava.
