Laid back: The Lounge , Quebec by Jean de Lessard.

It is easy to feature a piece of sexy architecture or product design, but often designers are called upon to intervene in a characterless place on a limited scale and with limited means, what then? If this is the sexless end of the design professions, then lets encourage a little flirting where the designer has put on their glad rags, and polished-up their lines!
The Lounge by Jean de Lessard, opens onto a bowling alley but local rules in Quebec mean the gaming areas must not be seen from outside. So the lounge becomes a screen between the areas, yet it also needs to be as transparent as possible to attract users of the facility. Stripy walls, timber floors, and some well chosen, furniture, and lighting are brought together with a bold colour scheme. It adds up to a little joy in a dismal corner.
