Lakeside Swimming Pool in Caldaro

In order to cover a minimum ground area, the project was conceived on two levels. In the upper sun terrace are two pools. Beneath the concrete deck, which cantilevers out over the sunbathing area, is the so-called “aquarium”, which is thus screened from sun and rain.

The deck is borne by the ancillary tract and by six core structures on bored piles. Two of these funnel-shaped elements pass through the platform within the area of the pool. Open at the top, they bring light down to the whirlpool and rain room in the cores. Openings in the floor of the pool and translucent concrete blocks in the terrace allow light to enter the aquarium, where the different depths of the pool form a sculptural soffit.
