The Leco recycling containers by Flussocreative make recycling fun while saving space. The Italian design studio Flussocreative created a system of recycling and storage containers that are related in their design to Lego building blocks – as its name Leco indicates.

Leco is made up of four polymer boxes that follow the divisions and color-coding of the Italian recycling system: The two smaller blue and green modules are to be used for aluminum and glass recycling respectively and the two larger size containers in white and yellow for paper and plastic recycling. Even though it was designed for Italian users in mind, Leco can be easily modified for other recycling programs, or used for other kinds of storage.

The Lego-like form of each module and their accessibility from the front helps to save space by stacking the containers in various configurations. In addition the Leco modules can be used as seating or table surfaces and thus increase their usefulness especially in small urban apartments.

Flussocreative explains that they wanted to create “a collector who had the power to attract people, not only because of its use, but also for its space-saving ability and the way it encourages the daily practice of collection and separation.”   Via designboom
