Les Lalanne an exhibition at The Paul Kasim Gallery.
Les Lalanne is the husband and wife team of Claude Lalanne and François-Xavier Lalanne who are showing in New York's Paul Kasmin Gallery between the 4th May and the 16th June.
The pair have long exhibited together developing a style that has been described by the gallery as poetic inventive and surrealist!
Many of the works have a domestic theme in that they can be used as pieces of furniture or fittings in somebody's home. One, Hippoptame I, 1968-9 was made in blue polyester resin for Teeny and Marcel Duchamp. The sculpture opens to reveal a bathtub in its body and a sink in its head.
There are some thirty pieces being exhibited in all, here are a selection, some of which have an architectural flavour.
