Lock Reinforcement in the BIM Process

Grafik: Sassevaart

At 427 metres long, 55 metres wide and 16.4 metres deep, the Terneuzen Lock in the Netherlands will be one of the largest in the world when completed in 2023. A not insignificant challenge lies in the fact that the waterway between Paris and Rotterdam needs to remain in operation during the construction work. The joint venture in charge of planning, Sassevaart, uses the digital platform Allplan Bimplus for the 3D reinforcement process in order to coordinate all the parallel activities, from design through to implementation between all the planning and project participants as well as for efficient collision control. The software has proven its worth as an integral part of the construction and project management – not least because the order, logistics and health and safety requirements can also be better integrated into the planning.
