Model Project in the Jacarezinho Favela, Rio de Janeiro

An attempt to create a new impulse in the urban development of the Favela ghettos was the reason for this test project. Self-built “organic” structures have been recognised as having development potential and have been extended as prototypical solutions. These projects have been individually addressed and resolved by the residents themselves. Lot sizes, optimisation of the layouts and improvement of the thermal and climatic conditions are amongst the aims of these projects.
