This is no optical illusion: the light bulb actually floats above its base.
Designer Simon Morris invested five years of development in the project that was to realize his dream of a floating object. Now all that is needed is the last financial injection for serial production to begin. Interested parties can contribute via Kickstarter, a crowdfunding platform.
The clever combination of magnets has a truly magical effect. But what makes Flyte particularly special is that the bulb itself requires no batteries, but is powered by induction via the platform.
The energy-efficient LED lamp switches on and off at a touch of the base. This base is made in Sweden of sustainable oak, ash or walnut wood. Even when you don’t need light, the base also works as a cordless charging station for your smartphone. Flyte is an interesting product that will certainly appeal to fans and financial supporters alike. The financing phase will run until 21 May.
