Multifaceted: Prism™ by David Adjaye

Photo: Knoll
David Adjaye, a British architect of Ghanaian descent, has won many prizes for his work. His most recent accolade is the 2015 Eugene McDermott Award. He has already designed the WASHINGTON SKELETON™ ALUMINUM SIDE CHAIR, WASHINGTON SKIN™ NYLON SIDE CHAIR and WASHINGTON CORONA™ COFFEE TABLE for Knoll. Now he is introducing three new pieces for the Prism™ series.
It’s all in the name: as multifaceted as a prism, these pieces gleam as they reflect the lights from their laminated geometric surfaces in red, black or white. The shiny surfaces present a striking contrast to the soft, comfortable upholstery. Adjaye says: “The design language is the same as in a few of the buildings I’m currently working on.” The many-sided shapes were inspired by the way natural geometry occupies space, thereby creating either positives or negatives in its surroundings.
