Natural Science Museum in Matsunoyama

The museum, with its meandering form, is located in a region where the snowfall is among the heaviest in Japan. Reaching a depth of up to five metres, the snow can seem to bury the building in winter. To withstand the loads this implies, the facade and roof were constructed with weather-resistant steel sheets 6 mm thick, which were welded in-situ to the load-bearing steel structure.
