Surfaces made of lava stone
Recycled lava rock is used to create surfaces that boast a variety of characteristic colours and textures. © Florim
In collaboration with Matteo Thun & Partners, Florim has created the SensiEtna collection, which transfers the elemental force of Mount Etna into architectural surfaces. The material is based on lava rock collected in the region, which is then recycled and fused with glass. The result is a surface that reflects the colour and structural diversity of lava in all its forms, from glowing white stone to deep black basalt. The addition of recycled glass creates reflective effects that enhance the spatial depth.

The collection is characterised by three surfaces: Bugnato, which has a relief structure and an ever-changing interplay of light; Crosta, which has a rough, porous texture; and Rigatino, which has a linear, graphic effect. © Florim
The collection comprises three distinctive surfaces. Bugnato has a relief-like, sculptural structure that is reminiscent of the movement of lava, reflecting light in ever-changing facets. Crosta has a rough, mineral texture that evokes porous volcanic rock. Rigatino creates a clear graphic effect with its linear, rhythmic structure.
In addition to large-format slabs, smaller formats are also available, including 10 × 10, 10 × 40 and 20 × 20 centimetres. These are created by recycling leftover pieces. This reduces material waste while giving each slab its own unique character. Whether used for flooring or wall coverings, indoors or outdoors, SensiEtna offers both durability and tactile diversity.
